About Maria Velez

I specialize in Cancer Care. I became a healthcare provider because I was inspired by my father, who was a physician. I shadowed him as a child and fell in love with medicine. My patients can count on me to provide extraordinary care because it's an honor to be part of the patients' lives, and taking care of them while providing comfort and healing. My little something extra: I love to sing even though I'm the worst singer in the world.

Dr. Velez is an extremely knowledgeable and dedicated physician. Her compassion shines effortlessly. Dr. Velez cares for the patient as an entire person; not just a diagnosis. In medicine today, this is truly a rarity and a blessing!

The provider is exactly! The 2.5 hour wait time to see the provider is absurd! I have lost jobs simply because of the wait time of the hospital. No check-ins from the hospital to say hey we appreciate your patience. My family and I were just told to sit in the room. The only time someone came to check in on us was because my 2 year kept pushing the nurse call button.

When visiting a doctor, it takes entirely too long to have the provider come in the room to see you.

Provider is great but the system needs to restructure. I completely understand that emergencies arise but maybe have a different provider on call for those when the provider has a full clinic schedule. Also, there should be more communication with parents when such emergencies come up. Waiting 3.5 hours to be seen is not feasible and we were not informed about the circumstances until about 3 hours in, and were told either we could see a different provider (who was not ready), reschedule, or wait. When leaving, has someone tell us that this only happens very rarely and that we were unlucky but this is the second appointment where we waiting in an exam room for hours to be seen. The first one time was 2.5 hours, this time was 3.5 hours.
