About Emily Masoumy

Dr. Emily Masoumy is Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Division of Neonatology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and has been a neonatologist at Children's Hospital since 2019. A native of Dalton, Georgia, she received her undergraduate education at Berry College in Rome, Georgia followed by medical school, residency, and neonatology fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia. Prior to her arrival in New Orleans, Dr. Masoumy was a neonatologist in Houston, Texas. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. Dr. Masoumy's interest in neonatology stems from her enjoyment of critical care and the connections made with NICU families. She and her husband Mohamad, also a physician on staff at Children's Hospital, are the parents of three children aged 3 and under. Quality improvement work is a primary area of focus for Dr. Masoumy to help provide the best and safest care for the smallest patients in our hospital. Dr. Masoumy serves as the lead physician liaison for the neonatal nurse practitioners at Children's Hospital. A little something extra: Dr. Masoumy enjoys singing and has performed her entire life from church choir to musicals to a bluegrass band.
