David Yu, MD

Dr. Yu currently serves as the hospital’s new Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, beginning February 1, 2026. Dr. Yu, who currently serves as Manning Family Children’s Associate Chief Medical Officer for the surgery division, has been a defining contributor to the advancement of pediatric care in Louisiana throughout his 25-year tenure.

Dr. David Yu specializes in Pediatric Surgery. He earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency training. He then completed a fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. Dr. Yu is certified by the American Board of Surgery and serves as an Associate Professor of Pediatric Surgery and Program Director for General Surgery Residency at Tulane University School of Medicine.  Dr. Yu cares for patients at the Main Campus in New Orleans and has been instrumental in leading his team over the past several years to help Manning Family Children's be verified as a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center.
