Dr. Christy Mumphrey is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Division of Neonatology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and has been a neonatologist at Children's Hospital since 2014. Dr. Mumphrey is a native of Slidell, Louisiana, and earned both her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of South Alabama. She completed Pediatrics residency and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship training at LSU New Orleans. Dr. Mumphrey also served as Pediatric Chief Resident at LSU New Orleans from 2010-2011. She is certified in both Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Mumphrey also serves as an Associate Program Director for the LSUHSC Pediatric Residency Program which provides training for future pediatricians based at Children's Hospital. She has a strong interest in student, resident, and fellow education as well as quality improvement research. Dr. Mumphrey chose neonatology because of its complexity, the multidisciplinary care that it provides, and the reward of guiding patients and families through the NICU experience. A little something extra: "I grew up spending summers on Lake Pontchartrain fishing, boating, and swimming. It was some of my best memories from childhood and is an experience that I now enjoy sharing with my family."
