Dr. Augusto Ochoa specializes in Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at Manning Family Children's. He earned his medical degree from Universidad de Antioquia in Medellin, Columbia. He then completed his residency training and fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology at LSU Health New Orleans. He also completed a fellowship in Immunology at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. With more than 36 years of experience, Dr. Ochoa is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. When asked why he chose to specialize in Pediatric Allergy and Immunology, Dr. Ochoa said, "I chose my specialty because many diseases are related to the function or dysfunction of our immune system. The immune system is our main line of defense against infections and even cancer. However, it may also behave abnormally and cause diseases such as allergies, rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Helping to balance the function of the immune system is a medical challenge that has always been interesting to me, but more importantly, it can provide great relief and benefit to our patients." Dr. Ochoa is fluent in both English and Spanish.
